The TY Benevolent Fund Committee

This year, for the first time, we have decided to formalize the wonderful help we get from our Transition Year students by setting up an official ‘TY Benevolent Fund Committee’. With full support from the School and TY Co-ordinator Catherine Flanagan, the response has been so encouraging. We now have 30 students signed up and they will use this experience as part of their Gaisce Award at the end of the year.

We have divided the girls into two groups and the first team have already started working on a fundraising event that they will organise and run themselves. On Friday 10th December, they will host a Clothes Sale on campus for the senior school, selling pre-loved, good quality clothes donated by the students themselves. They are now busy designing artwork and posters and setting up Instagram accounts to promote this event after their return from Work Experience in November.

We are really excited with this new venture and looking forward to getting to know the girls and engaging with them in the work we do to help past pupils in need. TY students have always been actively involved in helping us at events but we are now taking it to the next level. Watch this space for more details and photos in the months ahead.
