Fundraising is essential

Each year we help  approx. 24 past pupils in need . In the last few years we have made grants totalling approx. € 80.000 each year.  Covid has made this very challenging for us.  We are so gratefull for all the support we continue to get from you.  The Virtual 10k in your 5k is our key event for 2021.

It is hard to raise this in normal times – coffee mornings, bridge and various other functions do well – more recently we have received several bequests which have really made a difference. Class reunions  over the years have been very generous.

Every penny raised goes to someone in need – we have no overheads – our social workers, solicitor and committee members give their time for free.

Fund raising is varied, coffee mornings, bridge drives, gardening talks, mini-marathon etc. Mount Anville School is very supportive and at least one of the fundraising events throughout the school year is held in aid of the Benevolent Fund. There is also a collection at the MAPPA annual dinner and the Sacred Heart Schools Golf Outing. To generate enough funding to cover all the requests for assistance continuous fundraising is necessary all year round. The generosity of the many past pupils who support our fundraising events, contribute anonymously or by standing order is much appreciated and has ensured that no past pupil in need had to be turned away.

Covid19 has changed how we will gather in future, but here are some events we will be running - hopefully!

Golf

There is a golf competition being planned and it is always fun!

Hopefully this will happen in 2022

Bridge Events

We have two Bridge events a year.  The Spring one in Miltown Golf Club.

The Autumn event hopefully will be in October.   Enter Fee is normally

€25.00 which includes Bridge, Supper and wonderful prizes but this

year we are restricted to having an Online Bridge session on BBO.

VHI Mini Marathon

For the last 3 years we have a Team taking part in the 10k.  They meet in Leeson St where they can leave their bags and belongings.  Refreshments are provided along with a massage for the tired legs when they return.  2020 was a little different where people completed the 10k in their own 5k zone.  We had great support and raised overy €3000.  2021 will be a virtual event again.
